National Infertility Awareness Week (http://www.resolve.org/national-infertility-awareness-week/home-page.html) is upon us and, as specialists in the field, we are excited to support it. Infertility (http://www.acudenver.com/fertility.htm) can be an enormous challenge but lots of new research is being done to find new options for treatment, and acupuncture has recently been the focus of multiple studies. One very recent study has found increased

I am very excited to be leading a workshop on infertility, grief and loss this Saturday, February 9 from 9-12PM at Acupuncture Denver (http://shiftingawareness.com/about-shanly/). Besides helping our bodies during the conception process, it is crucial to support our mind-body connection. By that, I don't mean cognitively processing any difficulties we may be experiencing, but allowing the space for o

I love sending out e-newsletters, because I always end up getting replies and updates from clients whom I haven't seen for a while. Some send pregnancy updates, baby pictures, or just touch base to let me know how they have been. But I was deeply touched when so many people replied yesterday about my upcoming trip to Ethiopia to go get our second son (after a three-plus year wait!). It made me realize how fortunate I am to be surrounded and supported by so much love and understanding in my

As some of you know, I recently spent two weeks in Ethiopia with Mudula Water (http://www.mudulawater.org) visiting projects and delivering medical supplies to rural health centers in the Kembata-Tembaro region. I also got to visit the midwives-in-training from Mudula, one of whom Acupuncture Denver is sponsoring for the next four years. It was my second trip to Ethiopia but the first time I got to really spend time getting to know people and places more intimately. I was also able to meet our n

Jane and I had the pleasure of listening to one of our favorite authors speak at the Tattered Cover book store recently. Brene Brown, author of “The Gifts of Imperfection,” and “I Thought it Was Just Me (But it Isn’t),” has done some incredible work with shame resilience and vulnerability and I am looking forward to delving into her new book “Daring Greatly.” If you haven’t yet seen Brene’s TE

I got to spend part of this past Sunday with an amazing group of women who have supported each other through their respective fertility journeys for the last four years after having met at my Fer (http://www.acudenver.com/classes.htm)rtile Ground Yoga (http://www.acudenver.com/classes.htm) class. When I was about to go on maternity leave and had to put the class on hold in the summer of 2008, five women who met there decided to get each others’ contact info and stay in touch. That

Welcome to the second installment of Coping With Infertility during the Holidays. You can find the first installment in a prior post (http://http://www.acudenver.com/_blog/Acupuncture_Denver_Blog/post/Coping_with_Infertility_during_the_Holidays/). At this point the holidays are in full swing, and no matter what your take is on them, there is no avoiding them now…houses are covered in lights, stores are filled with kitschy red and green décor, Christmas music is piped into mall

We are excited about our upcoming One-Day Fertile Soul retreat (http://www.acudenver.com/workshops.htm) which happens on Sunday, October 2 from 9:00AM-7:00 PM. This day-long workshop has proven to be one of my favorite experiences to share with my patients and other attendees. The presentation is full of information, the work is deep and heart-centered, and by the end of the day everyone feels supported, uplifted, and hopeful. I invite anyone who needs a day of nurturing, connection and heal

We just had an amazing time at Colorado's first Fertile Soul (http://www.thefertilesoul.com) retreat last weekend. It's been about 6 years since my first retreat and I was so glad to be back to soak in the comfortable waters of yin-based healing (and the awesome pool at Interlocken Omni). We had an incredible group of courageous, vulnerable, strong, beautiful women (and one brave man) there to share in the long weekend of healing, sharing and inspiration. While we spent some time discus
