Acupressure for Pain Relief During Labor

Jul 20, 2019 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Acupressure is a simple, safe, and non-invasive technique that has been shown to be effective in relieving pain and discomfort during all stages of labor. Applying pressure to specific acupuncture points can promote the flow of vital energy needed during labor. This energy can be viewed in Western medical terms as the release of endorphins to block pain receptors, dilating the cervix, and increasing efficiency of contractions. It allows a woman in labor to settle more comfortably into the waves of contractions and encourage her to open and connect with her body rather than close and resist pain.
This class will cover specific acupuncture points for labor, their function, and location on the body. One of the benefits of acupressure during labor is that it is a hands-on technique that encourages partner involvement, so please bring your birth partner and/or support people. We will also provide a booklet to take home.

When: Saturday, July 20th at 4:30pm
Where: Acupuncture Denver
Cost: $50 per couple

This class will be facilitated by Merry Reasons, L.Ac., FABORM, Associate Acupuncturist at Acupuncture Denver.
